Enhance Your Golf Swing

Do you know what entails a great golf swing?

In order to maximize the distance of your shots, you simply must get it out of your head that swinging harder is better. Experienced golfers know that distance is not just a function of strength, but instead is created by proper balance, a focused wrist release, and proper shifting of weight through the swing.

Always remain sober while playing golf, no matter the circumstance. Some guys at the country club like to throw back a few cocktails before hitting the links. That's OK, for them at least. You want to improve your overall game. Don't have a horrible day out there and then develop the yips. Keep your mind clean and sober.

When you are golfing, it is very important to maintain a proper grip on each of your clubs, which will allow you to drive through the ball with force. Before shooting a round, make sure that you find a glove that fits your hand comfortably and gives you the grip that you need to enhance your swing.

Always play the hole you are on and not the course itself. Put extra effort into the holes you know are easy and then relax more on the ones you believe are more difficult. Keeping relaxed is a big mental aspect of the game and keeping each hole on an even level in your mind will tighten your focus and loosen the anxiety that ruins shots.

To improve your score fast, focus on your short shots because they make up the greater percentage of the game. New golfers often put a lot of focus on driving, but this won't bring up your score as quickly as getting really good at getting the ball into the hole.

To practice the best grip on your club, use a clapping hand test. Take your golf stance and then place your hands in front of you with palms together as though clapping. This should be the positioning of your hands when holding your club. As you grip your club, look at your hands and make sure your palms are parallel as they were without the club.

When you are golfing, it is important to remember that you should get your power from your body rather than your arms. It takes practice to learn to power your club with your body rather than your hands and arms. It will help if you try to imagine you are dragging the ball into the air.

If you are at a loss for determining who should tee off first, try using the spinning tee method. Have your group stand in a circle and spin a tee into the air so that it lands in the middle of the players. Whoever it points too goes first, then use additional spins to select the remaining rotation.

To get the most enjoyment out of your round of golf, you should drive from the tees that resemble your skill level. Most golf courses have at least 3 or 4 different sets of tees that can accommodate all skill levels. Hitting from the right tee will allow you to shoot a better score and get the most enjoyment from your round of golf.

Do you now understand what makes golf? Do you know about clubs and how to use them? Do you now know what it takes to make a great golf swing? If you have an idea of how to answer these questions now, then you have read and understood what it takes to become a better golfer.
